A recent online poll asked women who they would rather encounter alone in a woods, a bear or a man. Most women chose a bear. One in 3 women have experienced intimate partner violence. Benita Alexander is a trailblazing advocate who empowers women as an emmy award winning investigative journalist and producer. We work together on a show she produces for Investigation Discovery called Crimes Gone Viral. Benita’s own personal True crime story of being loveconned by a famous physician led to a docuseries called “Bad Surgeon” which reached number one Netlix. Her story was the subject of Wondery’s Season 3 Podcast of Doctor Death and later turned into a TV drama starring Mandy Moore.
Benita introduced me to Cait Alexander who is also a survivor of intimate partner violence and advocates for legislative changes to protect victims. This week we discuss one of the most famous cases that have led to legislative change to protect victims, The Nicole Brown Simpson Story. Interest in Nicole’s story has peaked in the wake of the recent death of OJ Simpson. I was recently a contributing expert on a Lifetime documentary about Nicole Brown Simpson, which is scheduled to be released this week on June 1st
