Instead of giving up on Sequoia because she was having a spicy day, @elisabethhowerofficial took the time to meet her where she was at and remind her that she is in a safe place where she can exhale and work alongside us. Horses are prey animals — when a horse is in fight or flight her ability to focus is at a zero. There were many factors adding to Sequoia’s spice, but Elisabeth brought her back to us and was able to end this session on a soft and consensual note. It just goes to show you that with the right mindset and patience, we can meet these animals where they need us and great healing can occur.
