Chelsea Hackett Instagram – I’m not silly. I know how much of an underdog I was coming into my fight against Dakota and I know that most of you “knew” I was going to lose.
Even the people close to me might have had their doubts and that’s okay, I understood the task that was in front of me. The truth is, I believed with every part of my soul that I could beat Dakota and that’s why I wanted the fight. I didn’t want it for attention or clout, if anything it attracted the worst kind of attention. The type that would make you doubt a lot of shit.
I took the fight because I truly believed in myself when the whole world didn’t. I know I lost and a lot of people will say they weren’t surprised but I want this to be an example of – not giving a single fuck about what other people say or think – Show up for yourself regardless of the critics.
Obviously I wish I got the win to prove to myself I could do it, but shit happens. Dakota was better than me on the night, I got caught early and it’s as simple as that.
I’m 25 years old. I know I will learn and grow from this experience and I will continue to do what I love and chase my dreams. Let this be a message to anyone chasing their dreams to, ignore the noise and always bet on yourself.
