Deborah Ayorinde Instagram – It was such an immense pleasure to photograph and interview @itsdeborah for @photobookmagazine.
It’s not everyday I come across another artist whom I resonate with and admire so much. Upon discovering an old interview clip of Deborah where she discusses the importance of dismantling stereotypes of women in cinema, I knew right away we could collaborate on a more challenging and conceptual portrait series. Together, with an amazing team, we tackled 5 tropes of women in cinema that Deborah feels connected to which are further explored and explained in the accompanying article.
I very much appreciate Deborah’s openness to work on a non-traditional portrait series as well as her candidness and honesty in our conversation after the fact. If you haven’t seen @themonprime by @littlemarvin I HIGHLY recommend giving it a watch – both installments. The subject matter is not easy to digest, but incredibly important.
