Elle Newlands Instagram – I got to unearth another time capsule lastnight. My first ever open mic in Los Angeles, performing John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’. Back then I didn’t have much confidence walking this earth. It has taken me literal years to stop playing small, of being afraid to take up space and being afraid of what other people think of me. Of worrying that sharing any kind of talent isn’t safe. And honestly, if I could go back and hug younger me and tell her it all works out in the future, I would. Plus this song feels really real right now. The world feels so broken.
Please let’s just be kind to ourselves. To other people. Tell them you love them, you are proud of them, you appreciate them. Celebrate where you’ve been and where you’re going 🙌🏻
