Just turned in draft SIX of funny story, but more importantly, @sashaannehair helped me go darker than I’ve been since 2008 when I dyed my hair from a box and gave myself baby bangs then let Sophia and Morgan both cut my hair at the same time, from opposite sides. This is better!!! She’s a wizard, a true star.

Full blurb:
Archaeologists Isadora Ross and Louise Morgenstern have been best friends for sixteen years. But ever since Lou went back on a promise, broke off her toxic engagement and took a once-in-a-lifetime job on a dig in Turkey, leaving Isi behind – their relationship has been teetering on a precipice.
Lou’s been back a year, and Isi’s avoiding her, struggling with her resentment and unrequited romantic feelings. She throws herself even further into her never ending search for her mom, who went missing on a research trip in the mountains fourteen years ago.
But when Isi unearths an old journal of her mom’s indicating that the legends of lost Cherokee gold were more than legends, and she and Louise are kidnapped by a wealthy private collector who’s also been searching for it, they are forced to work together.
Having escaped, they must navigate not only the complicated feelings between them but also predators, the weather, and even the dark as they race through the mountains. Isi will have to decode her mom’s map in order to find the gold and get them out alive.

This next blurb for It’s Elementary is from my favorite author @emilyhenrywrites. It was completely unexpected, so when my agent sent it to me I cried, did a few laps around my house, and then cried again.
I’m forever in awe of Emily’s craft (seriously, her dialogue 🤯😍 HOW). But what I admire the most about her is her kindness and endless support for other authors. I’m honored to have her words on my cover!
Here’s what she had to say about It’s Elementary:
“It’s Elementary is the coziest of cozy mysteries. With the intrigue and drama of Big Little Lies and the warmth and humor of Abbott Elementary, Elise Bryant’s first foray into the genre is a delight. A perfect next read for anyone looking for a charming cast, clever writing, and a hint of romance alongside their whodunit.”
Okay! Gonna do a few more laps now! 🥹

ABOUT IT’S ELEMENTARY
Mavis Miller is not a PTA mom. She has enough on her plate with her feisty seven-year-old daughter, Pearl, an exhausting job at a nonprofit, and the complexities of a multigenerational household. So no one is more surprised than Mavis when she caves to Trisha Holbrook, the long-reigning, slightly terrifying PTA president, and finds herself in charge of the school’s brand-new DEI committee.
As one of the few Black parents at this California elementary school, Mavis tries to convince herself this is an opportunity for real change. But things go off the rails at the very first meeting, when the new principal’s plans leave Trisha absolutely furious. Later that night, when Mavis spies Trisha in yellow rubber gloves and booties, lugging cleaning supplies and giant black trash bags to her waiting minivan, it’s only natural that her mind jumps to somewhere it surely wouldn’t in the light of day.
Except Principal Smith fails to show up for work the next morning, and has been MIA since the meeting. Determined to get to the bottom of things, Mavis, along with the school psychologist with the great forearms (look, it’s worth noting), launches an investigation that will challenge her views on parenting, friendship, and elementary school politics.
