Emma Bell Instagram – I’m grateful for having a day on the calendar where as a mother I’m entitled to relish in the gratitude coming from the people in my life. Truly, it’s such a luxury to be given coffee in bed and have pancakes made for me and be given the cutest card from the cutest person on the planet. I wish we could make it more accessible to caretakers of all kinds to feel as supported and nourished most days as we do on Mother’s Day. I could not do this without the small acts of kindness from people in my daily life. The person who holds the grocery door open as I wheel my giant cart through with a toddler playing monkey bars on it. The mother of a much older child telling me ‘you’re doing great, I see you’ when my kid throws a tantrum while being put in the car seat. The air steward who gave Pfeiffer a teddy bear when she didn’t want to play with any of the hundred toys I packed for the plane ride. Just a nod, or a smile or a word of encouragement goes so far. And to the other mothers who are also running on empty who have stepped in and held me, cried with me, laughed with me and been life altering teachers as we navigate this journey together I can not express how much you have saved my sanity and altered my life in ways I will never truly be able to comprehend. Happy Mother’s Day today and every day for all mothers of all kinds, shapes, sizes, genders and circumstances. You are what keeps this world wondrous.
