From the looks of my social media, you might think that I/we just crank out one after the other but I promise you each of these films are made with bone-breaking labor, lots of spirited discussions and joy/love/sadness sprinkled throughout. I spent the most of the year developing a project and completing direction on an upcoming con/catfish doc and when I was approached to work on this one — I knew in my heart that @michaelbeachnichols was the right human for the job. He implicitely knows story and how to tell one and also works so hard. Work ethic is what I look for most in a partner and Michael had this in spades. The project had already been underway for quite some time with the folks at Marwar (see @alliberk and @joseph_v_freed) with Allison spending months if not years with Keith, the man at the center of this story. From then on we added: Rob Ford, @scoresforghosts, cbone6 and @magdagora. Michael knew he wanted to tell this story differently and he definitley did (young doc Kubrick anyone?) We would be nowhere without our execs at Hulu @belisabal, Beth and @katebust, you make our lives and our jobs so easy. Whenever people ask me what it was like to work with you, I gush about what a group of talented women I found myself connected with. Thank you for the top-shelf notes, kindness and understanding.
