“Black Wall Street” is an obscene term
We can refer to Greenwood without labeling the town a Black version of one of the most violent institutions in history. When Wall Street was a huge site for human trafficking and representative of the capitalist greed that kept us in bondage for centuries as it facilitated the creation of a slave economy, why do people continue calling a thriving community of African Americans “Black Wall Street”?
