“Manhatta” is a playful feminist fantasy, counter-colonizing the male gaze and exploring intersectional objectification. A Black Manhattan businessman seeking to improve his smile and his luck with the ladies, finds himself objectified. Overwhelmed by the women’s collective action, he seeks divine intervention and finds respite in oceanic reflections. With #HarlemRenaissance poet #ClaudeMckay’s “On Broadway.” Starring and executive produced by @RaminTabib and #ElisaMelo.
“Till Human Voices Wake Us,” reverses poet #T.S.Eliot’s crisis of masculinity in “The Love Song of Alfred Prufrock,” – as Selkies – Celtic mythical creatures that are seals in water and maidens on land – overcome gender norms and police brutality to storm Manhattan, trying to save the oceans and their loves. Starring @LindsayLohan and produced by @overnightrick.
These films conjure the mysteries and magic of the unknown, the creatures of the deep that we reflect upon – and that reflect our deepest selves. If we knew them, we might love them, and find the courage to save our world.
