Ioanna Gika Instagram – I took this photo of Comet Neowise. Days of looking where sites and apps directed: nothing. Then the faintest tail. (City lights? Halo from contact lenses?) Neowise was ephemeral, but I learned that once I stopped relying on apps to direct me, and let my eyes adjust to the night sky, I was able to spot the unmistakable shimmer of a cosmic brushstroke. As Neowise grew in luminosity, becoming bolder as the sun pulled the curtain of the night, the comet pointed its silvery finger to our planet almost as if to say, ‘Earth, you see me, but make no mistake: in a blaze, I am watching you.’ 20 minutes and it was gone. | Posted on 20/Jul/2020 21:07:08
