Janina Ramirez Instagram – How is this for treasure?!?! One of the Seven Wonders of Belgium, the 32 pieces of medieval Mosan art in this collection are truly remarkable. Not least because we know the 12th century artist behind them – Hugo of Oignies. He even included his portrait on the famous book covers. The treasures were hidden in the wall of a farm house to protect them during the early nineteenth-century French suppression of the monasteries, but thanks to a team of brave nuns, they were saved and are now deeply treasured by the people of Belgium.
