Jennie Kwan Instagram – What an epic day on the ice! From the minute @theoliviahack suggested we take on this adventure a rush of excitement and tremendous fear overcame me. We would have to get on a helicopter to get to the glacier. I’m an anxious flyer but getting on a helicopter. No f*ck1ng way!
I went back and forth about going up until the last minute. What made it worse was I messed up our reservations so @mtgarrett wasn’t able to go. And the weather getting to the site was a bit challenging.
But once we got onto Matanuska Glacier it’s fierce vastness and beauty overtook me. We were able to see a few miles of the 27 mile long and 4 mile wide rock but what we saw felt very gratifying. The glacier’s beauty was so pristine and unworldly. I even rappelled down a side of a cliff. Something I thought I would never do.
I will always the first time I went to a glacier. I would do it again. And I want to do it again. Sooner than later. This experience had a huge impact on me. I keep learning I can face difficult challenges head on and it can be a beautiful thing.❄️
