I’m here at the @europeanspaceagency’s European Space Operations Centre to take you behind the scenes of the launch of the new #EarthCARE satellite! 🛰️
EarthCARE – which stands for Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer, has the scientific goal of measuring the 3D structures of clouds and aerosols, together with collocated observations of solar (shortwave) and terrestrial (thermal) radiation to shed new light on the role that clouds and aerosols play in regulating Earth’s temperature.
The satellite will be launched by a @spacex Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg in California this evening – keep an eye on my account to keep up to date with everything behind the scenes at ESA HQ in Germany! 🇩🇪
