Joely Richardson Instagram – I’ve loved seeing the Fathers Day posts- made me think of mine. He died so long ago my adult life has been without him. Only photo I had on my phone is the one with Queen Elizabeth as it was sent to me. He wasn’t a royalist per se, but as the son of chemist from Yorkshire, he was mighty chuffed when picked to sit next to her. I had to google him to find more photos: with my mum on their honeymoon , with my sister Natasha whom he adored ( and her 80s hair), his happiest place at work behind a camera, and a hilarious old poster of a film he did with Laurence Olivier ( when my Pa was an ‘angry young man ‘- cinema movement ). He had protruding ears and his party trick was to wiggle them. I picked this song as it was one of his favourites. How different life might have been with you to turn to Pops, my Papa.
