Julia Chan Instagram – Oh hi, this is me today. I’m proud and grateful to say I’m a breast cancer survivor. It’s a long story but the important points are I was lucky to find out through my inaugural happy 40th birthday mammogram and that I’m richer for the love and support that came my way. I went for the mammogram because I heard about a friend of a friend who had just been diagnosed. If you’re 40 please do not put off your mammo. Please do your self-exams and keep up with your annual Pap smears, and just ask your PCP for a mammo if you have any sense that something is off. This post isn’t about my waxing lyrical, I just want you to know that if you’re going through this I SEE YOU. We need to be talking about this more. I am through multiple surgeries and lengthy chemotherapy at @memorialsloankettering and beyond grateful to be on the other side brimming with many lessons and much love. I am grateful for so much…for my friends and family, from my @vanyanyc family who held me during those first hours of diagnosis @marinireland and @willbrill literally dressing me backstage after multiple biopsies when I couldn’t lift my arms, to @zoe___mann my sister from another mister who recused me and my boys by coming to stay with us through chemo, @jessbrick and @michaelmitnick for love always, @lornachan my mum who came for months to help us, @jeremychanikoyi who flew in for 48 hours to make me laugh after surgery, @wildchildnr.1 and @maggie.bannan and @claraaanap Henry’s angels, @instadanjlevy and @staceyfarber for keeping me light and visiting and inspiring, @lilyallen and family for Sunday roasts and laughs always, @marina_c , @kjalnes, @sabineeng @novalandaeus @malinlandaeusvintage @klarawid, @sarahspower @kristenhager @siobhangmurphy for constant support and check ins from afar. @lucyhale for breakfasts and decadent dinners and walks. @diannewildman and family for being the best Tutu.
And most of all my love @tobyburns for coming with me to EVERY SINGLE APPOINTMENT and weathering the storm and somehow making me laugh through it all. I love you. And Henry Burns, who is the reason.
