Fifty years ago today — 50! — Bill and Carol drove from Detroit to a courthouse in Toledo and got married. Then they came back home, grabbed cheeseburgers and drank Singapore Slings. And then they went to a gay pride parade in Detroit! Happy Golden Anniversary to my mom and dad who are still the coolest parents ever. May you have another fifty years and another fifty after that. Love you both! Xo

“Even with us being ten years together working in this business, we love to see this night.” The Met Gala is fashion’s biggest night of the year, with celebrities rocking elaborate — and wacky — fashion on the infamous red carpet. Stylists @waymanandmicah were responsible for many of the night’s show-stopping looks at this year’s event. They caught up with @DebRobertsABC ahead of the big night in the latest episode of #IMPACTonHulu, streaming now. #MetGala #Fashion #Vogue
Spent the last several days celebrating my husband’s birthday — which was on the 24th! Love you honey and here’s to your absolute best year yet! Xo
After these last three weeks? Sheesh. I needed every bit of this night, this fellowship, this meditation, this meal, this karaoke, this good time. Thank you G D. Love you both. 🙏🏿❤️

The first photo is a shanty that my ancestors lived in on the Edmund S. Harris plantation in Opelika, Alabama where my father’s family was enslaved. The second photo is a receipt of my great great great grandparents Elex and Nancy on my mother’s side who were purchased for $500 (him) and $400 (her) (and once free, they bought tons of land). When I went to the Harris plantation with my dad’s family a few years back, I peered into that shanty because we couldn’t walk inside — it was at the time being used for storage. Right as I was looking in the window, a yellow jacket came and stung the mess out of me. Then and there I surmised it was an ancestor telling me to take my behind far away from here. And I did. I think about that moment often. I think about my ancestors often. Not just on this day. But especially on this day. #juneteenth
