Kristen Schaal Instagram – This is my costume since July. #sagaftrastrong sending love and support. The majority of actors don’t have big breaks early on. They have day jobs and night jobs. They ask their buddies to cover their section while they dip out to audition. They realize the lunch shift isn’t going to pay the bills and the night shift isn’t going to allow them to do comedy shows (mostly unpaid). So they take a temp job and ask their buddies to cover for them if their audition during lunch goes long. Getting an audition is the hardest part, getting an agent is almost impossible, and getting the actual job is based on whatever vibe the director is feeling even if on paper you are more than qualified. So. By the time you join SAG-AFTRA it is earned. I’m proud to be a part of this union and support all actors at every point in this long game. And congratulations to the #UAW! This feels like the movement this country has been waiting for.
