Well let me tell you it’s unlike anything else you would ever experience in a restaurant. A place where art, science and gastronomy blur into one.
From the first minute you walk through the door it’s very theatrical experience. Starting in the mirrored room where you’re led around by dancer. Continue to the first dinning room where you are served the first snacks of the evening. Followed by moving into the dome where the screen on the ceiling presents several different moving images throughout the meal.
Many courses, or “impressions” as they call them, carry a deeper message to make you think. Like a piece of cod with edible plastic to bring awareness to ocean polution. Or a chocolate bar shaped like a coffin to remind us of child labour within the chocolate industry. Or my favourite one, pig’s blood dessert shaped into a blood droplet with a QR code on the plate leading you to sign up to donate blood.
Before you move to the next location to enjoy last sweets, you are left alone in a room full of balls to swim and play. “Feeling like a child again” moment.
Magical, provocative, smart, unique one life experince. That is how I would describe Alchemist that took my breath away. 👏🏼
