For the first time, independent candidates are part of South Africa’s national and provincial elections. Here’s how this affects seat allocation in the National Assembly:
📍 Regional Seats: The process starts by allocating seats for independent candidates in each region.
🧮 Population-Based Seats: Each province gets seats based on its population. For example, Gauteng has 48 out of the 200 regional seats.
📊 Calculating the Quota: To find out how many votes are needed for one seat, the total votes in the region are divided by the number of seats.
