Here’s a truth I’ve come to live by: the landscape of opportunity, especially for young black actors, has shifted dramatically. There was a time when the roles I dreamed of simply didn’t exist, and the energy I poured into this industry seemed to vanish into the ether. But I persisted! 💪🏾❤️ 🎥 🎭 🎙️ 📕 And what I’ve crafted isn’t the career I initially envisioned—it’s something profoundly more satisfying, and uniquely mine. Just leaving this here because you might need the reminder—age is no barrier to creativity or to the unfolding of new opportunities. (Read that again!) Mastering this mindset, requires a daily practice, of rebounding from rejection—both from others and the kind we impose on ourselves. The real work? Silencing those diminishing thoughts and embracing every chance to shine and celebrate yourself and others. The belief that vibrant roles await only the young is a myth I joyfully debunk with every script I embrace. Age is just a number — you’re not too old, you haven’t lost your shot, you’re still in the game —so play hard and to WIN!
