Maria Ho Instagram – This year, on my birthday, I am opting for a moment of solitude and quiet reflection as I wake up feeling ever-grateful for the air in my lungs, my able body that takes me on life’s adventures, the roof over my head that provides me comfort, and the warmth from loved ones that have wrapped me up in their love on my best days and on my worst days.
With age comes the wisdom to appreciate and experience life as it comes, to not look so far into the future that you forget to enjoy the present. It’s not about ignoring the worries or the challenges that come your way; it’s about knowing you have the strength to overcome them.
These days, I find myself caring so much less about what others think of me and so much more about putting in the work behind the scenes. Diverting my energy in this way has brought me a greater sense of peace than acceptance from others ever will.
This is why today, I will simply celebrate being one day closer to the best version of myself.
