She’s like a mini me, dressed as Deborah Sampson, who fought in disguise for the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War and pointed out for generations of women to come: “Why can I not fight for my country, too?” Proud of my niece for choosing to represent such a trailblazer, putting together such a boss outfit for a school project, and fearlessly going against the grain. I’m like a century older, but I already look up to her.
