Mellissa Laycy Instagram – I was visiting my friend @artbyrainestorey art exhibition a few months ago where in a conversation she told me how she gets completely lost for hours, painting and creating.
I felt something inside of meā¦ a longing, perhaps nostalgia for that thing that I knew Raine was speaking about.
Dancers talk about losing themselves in the moment, becoming one with something outside of themselves.
Musicians talk about experiencing stillness of mindā¦
I knew this, I had thisā¦ but had lost this years ago in search and pursuit of conforming to achieve what society wanted from me.
After talking to Raine I knew I had to get it back.
I trained classically to grade 8 and then went on to study with @thelsmt but lack of confidence made me take a step back and focus more on my acting than singing and so I forgot about this tool that so easily brings me into the present moment and relaxes the nervous system.
If you kind of know of what Iām talking about and want to find that living meditation for yourself all you have to do is ask āwhat did I do when I was younger that brought joy, peace and inner silence?ā
Some people find it through dancing, gardening, DIY, art, Chess, yogaā¦
I donāt claim to be the best but it just feels good to create, express and be in the present š
