Mimi Kennedy Instagram – Theresa Bonpane, peace activist and mentor to L.A.peace community, will talk about her life and new memoir “Sister Rebel” on Saturday Oct.28, 1-4 pm at the Culver-Palms United Methodist Church. Her journey from “boy-crazy” Catholic daughter of Irish immigrants in Troy, NY, to Maryknoll missionary nun, to wife and partner of Blase Bonpane- himself a priest who left Maryknoll rather than stay obediently silent about CIA violence in Guatemala- is riveting. Her personal courage in defying threats of hell iif she “leapt over the wall” is deeply relevant in our day when threats of punishment in the here or hereafter keep many faithful from speaking truth and seeking peace among all who share the earth. Theresa’s story offers guidance and inspiration. My husband Larry and I will be interviewing her. You’ll have a chance to ask questions and buy a signed book. The event is free.
