Natalie Holt Instagram – Asher Tlalim. Sometimes you hear someone has gone and it hits you really hard. Today is one of those days. He wasn’t just the most inspiring teacher, creating debate and sometimes a little controversy and chaos, he was also so kind and deeply supportive. He invited me to teach music to his kids in his home when I was broke after film school and we shared many meals and chats afterwards, he was always delighted to help and advise long after I had graduated. The kind of selfless teacher you feel lucky to have experienced and I think a whole generation of NFTS graduates and film makers will feel the same. I will always remember the ‘red scarf’ incident and the last time I saw him when I went back to the NFTS recently to teach, how genuinely delighted he was to hear about my career.
