Poppy Liu Instagram – happy new year, if you have ever paid taxes to the US government then 🍉 is uniquely and directly your problem and it is your responsibility to understand the history between the US and i s r a e l, to keep talking about 🍉, and to not turn away from g a z a.
a world of information is available to you, here’s some of what i’m reading/re-reading right now:
Freedom is a Constant Struggle (Angela Davis), a classic and must read for anyone who cares about intersectional activism. She importantly names the link between US state violence against black communities and i s r a e l i state violence against 🍉ians.
The Hundred Years’ War on 🍉 (Rashid Khalidi), very personal historical account of 🍉 written from a 🍉ian perspective (rare!) beginning with early z i o n i s t correspondence in the late 1800’s.
On 🍉 (Noam Chomsky, Ilan Pappé), transcripts of convos between them. A little heady but it covers a lot of ground. The book was published in 2018 but the convos are from 2014 and 2013 and it’s really freaky that they essentially predicted what we are seeing right now.
Next up are: Ten Myths About I s r a e l (Ilan Pappé) and Rifqa (Mohammed el-Kurd’s debut collection of poetry.) What else are people reading?
Do not stop talking about 🍉, do not stop pressuring the US government, keep listening to 🍉ian voices showing us what is happening on the ground, find your entry point into this, do not turn away. | Posted on 08/Jan/2024 00:41:59
