It may look super cute and it is, and it was magical having this little guy for a couple of days❤️; clearly he was loved, and I’m glad he got reunited with his owners, but if he wasn’t found, he would be dead. He wandered into our garden one day, searching for food..so hungry that he hopped onto my hand to eat and we took him inside to protect him. The unfortunate truth is, that many people buy these imported birds that CANNOT survive this environment’s weather, let alone the many predators. When I looked into finding Pex’s owner I realized just how common this phenomenon is. They are imported from their natural habitat, brought to a home, caged, and then they live a life in captivity, or escape and meet their end trying to survive in an alien environment. Please please #stopcagingbirds stop taking animals out of the habitat they are happy in. Think about the industry you are encouraging when you buy an exotic pet to look good in your home.
