Rekha Shankar Instagram – Today was such an incredible #ValentinesDay with my Mister ❤️ Close friends know that Yoshi has been quite politically active online, and is the current CO CHAIR of his local Mud Fossil Facebook group. So that hasn’t left a lot of time for US. We haven’t been able to figure out a good way to solve this – Yoshi said he wouldn’t change anything for me and I HAVE to respect that boundary – so I was at a loss.
Well this morning, his group went on a tour to the Angeles National Forest to prove to the American Government that all mountains are monsters trapped in a rock (F.A.C.T.S. 👏🏽), but what he didn’t know is that *I* was going to secretly show up (he never lets me attend anything with him publicly, in case people think it makes him seem “low T.”) So I posed as one of the members of the group for a couple hours, and then at the lunch break, I took off my disguise (mailman) and pulled out a red rose and asked Yoshi to be my #Valentine. Sure, he was mad for a few minutes. He told everyone I “wasn’t his girlfriend,” and he “doesn’t know me,” and to “check my emails,” but after he calmed down and stopped spitting, he saw that the gesture was from a place of love, and not trickery. And folks? He accepted my🌹and even agreed to spend the lunch break with me 😇.
I love to reflect on how important Valentines Day is. It’s a day to push aside everything you hate about your partner (me) and to really see what you value about them (Yoshi says he’ll let me know asap). So a very happy #vDay to my special guy.
