I almost didn’t post today because Yoshi and I got in our first fight. Statistics show that couples that have a fight are weak, so it really worried me.
Here’s what happened: Yoshi was bored so threw out my passport. That wasn’t even the annoying thing. The annoying thing was that he lied about it 😤 He’s really kindly letting me say this but basically I came home from work and couldn’t find my passport, which I always keep handy in case we have to change our identities. Then after some searching I said, “it looks like my passport is in your trash (we keep separate trashes) and it has a bite mark in it.” Because that’s what I saw. But he said, “no it’s not, no it doesn’t, go to your house (we keep separate houses).” I was like, is he lying? What even is lying? What is “cheating?” What is “his low credit score?”
So I called him on it. He said “no, I don’t lie, I can’t even read.” Well guess what? Yoshi had installed a @ring camera inside the bathroom so he could watch playback of his best dumps, and lo and behold on the tape was him eating my passport and throwing out the less tasty parts into the trash! I showed this to him and he immediately caved, but then we got into a huge fight. He blew eggs everywhere and I hid in a suitcase. I just couldn’t believe he lied. Lying really makes me distrust people, because this is a trauma I have.
However! We are now so thankfully on the other side of it, and honestly, the whole episode made me appreciate him more. I appreciate the way he holds my hand during a movie where there might be strong political takes; I appreciate how he strokes my hair when I’m trying to sleep to attempt to keep me awake so I can give him notes on his stand-up; I appreciate the way he takes me on surprise trips to buy him Gatorade. So this is a lesson: sometimes the hard times make you stronger!! 💪🏽
