Roberta Blevins Instagram – I took ZsaZsa to Dog Beach in OB and let her off leash for the first time in the wild!
I’ve been really apprehensive about allowing her off leash in open dog spaces because she’s curious, independent and can run 40mph. It always felt way too risky.
So we started going to a local enclosed and size specific dog park just to see what happened. I was pleasantly surprised that while she did explore and interact, she was never too far away and always returned to me. After a few successful outings, I was starting to feel more confident too.
So when our friends invited us down to OB to play in the minus tides, I jumped at bringing ZsaZsa down and seeing what she would do with that much space. She was keeping close and minding the length of her lead, so I decided to be brave and let her go.
SHE WENT WILD.
She had so much fun playing in the waves and meeting new friends! We even had a fun game of chase with a whippet mix! Finally a dog who could keep up with her. 😂 Only one small detour of curiosity, but all in all it was a great, successful off leash day at the beach.
Many, many trips in our future this year!! 🏖️
