I started working at the mall in a clothing store named « Judy’s » when I was 15, i became the assistant manager then responsible for display and merchandising for our store, then all of the stores in Houston. I saw the name Yves St Laurent for the first time because we carried the perfume Rive Gauche. I could not pronounce either but I thought it looked and smelled so sophisticated…powerful. One year later I was in NY as a new recrute for Elite Models.

Marking the passing of the inimitable Mr Yves St Laurent today. 1962 was the beginning of the Maison YSL, it was also the year I was born and I will turn 62 in July. My very first notions of chic, long before meeting the man, had his initials attached. One of many cherished memories was a chance meeting in the hidden corridors of 5 ave Monceau, « mademoiselle, vous êtes charmante » . It was such a privilege to witness first hand such a talent.
