Strength and fluidity were celebrated, as dancers sensually explored different layers of physical expression. I think Maria Grazia was commenting on our decisions about what to wear: are clothes a mask or a means of expression? Can what we wear offer us freedom?
Ten years ago today, Marie Colvin was killed by the Assad regime as she reported from the besieged city of Homs in Syria. Journalists of her ilk are too often killed precisely for that commitment to the truth which sets them apart. Giving a voice to people who would never otherwise have their stories heard was her lifelong missIon. It is important work and must never be silenced. April 4th is International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. Yesterday I made a speech that was played virtually before the UN. I may post this later; but most moving, was the keynote speech by @gilesduley , photographer and landmine survivor. Speaking with emotion and without sentimentality, he spoke of the bravery of landmine victims and survivors. This tale of a mother and her child in Mosul moved me to tears. Please listen to this worthwhile minute of his speech.
