Rosena Allin-Khan Instagram – Yet again, our Government are stooping lower than we could have thought possible and are trying to scrap mental health support for our #NHS heroes.
They work for us tirelessly and selflessly, under constant pressure, often in the most difficult of circumstances. As an A&E doctor, I know all too well the toll that this takes on our frontline workers.
After the hardship of the pandemic, after real-terms pay cuts, after budget cut after budget cut, the very least that NHS staff should expect from their Government is accessible, high-quality mental health support when they need it. Instead, they’re saddled with this shower of Tories, who have cut funding right to the bone for mental health resources.
Today, the Health Minister refused to assure me that funding for support services will be extended behind the 12 month period they’ve committed to. I would like to see the Minister join me on a shift at St George’s, look my colleagues and friends in the eye, and explain why the Tories think they don’t deserve support through an NHS crisis of his Government’s own making.
