The Wheat Hat 🌾✨ For @worldofmyownnyc’s Metamorphosis runway show 🤍 Was exploring feather alternatives and realized that dried plants have similar qualities… need to take this further because there’s so many more plants I’ve seen since that I want to turn into hats, and I’d like to find ways to make them stronger, but really happy with how this turned out 🎂 had to do small sections at a time over the course of a few days. Would love to make another as a custom for someone local (NYC)
Hats for @worldofmyownnyc Metamorphosis collection runway show 🩶🦢 Rebirth, growing up, and matrilineal bonds 🤍 I started this collection by going to @sydneysydsydne’s place, we looked through her materials, her scrap books and photo albums with beautiful letters from her mom and photos of her family, it really felt like I was being allowed into a sacred space of memories and love. We looked through her childhood fairy books and her grandma’s jewelry design books (incredible- her grandma also walked in the show in the wheat hat!! ♡︎). I revisited the 18-1900s ornament books I love so much and focused on nature, to match the themes and incredible set design of the show. I felt lost at first with so many ideas and directions to follow but eventually hit my stride and made about 20 new hats (in a way too short amount of time, maybe that’s my process??? She works best under pressure) ! I missed the show, but I was visiting my mom and brothers and that almost felt like a part of the show too. NEEDED THAT but I wish I could’ve been there simultaneously, it seemed so intimate and magical and special. I’ll make some videos going into each hat but for now here are some photos from the show 🙂 it’s been everythingGG to be going out and collaborating with other artists and seeing how floating through different worlds transforms my own.
