I’m quite discerning when it comes to new friends nowadays but I thought ‘who is this delightful sweet Canadian person and can she be my friend please thanks’ Julia is one of the big reasons I thought it was possible to explore directing myself. There are all the essential things needed for directing that she clearly possesses- having a clear vision, decisiveness, being clever as fuck, boundaries, a prime communicator and leader… but the thing that isn’t necessarily valued as a ‘director trait’ is kindness. Oh my god babyboy is so kind. And thoughtful. AND POLITE. And kind. Did I say kind? Having experienced some bizarre unpleasant behaviours from ‘leaders’ in the past, seeing how she does the f-ing job AND maintains her humanity made me think ‘maybe there’s space for gentler directors…’ Julia could ask me to just nod and blink in any project and I’d be there. I purposefully don’t get too personal on here – and this post might very well not be your cup of tea – but if you’ve ever been even remotely curious about Shamanic healing, reiki or anything like that, this is your call. My wonderful friend @surimanahealing and @leesspiritualhealing invited me to a healing session this week and honestly, I was blown away (don’t really want to go into my experience as it’s private and I’m still processing what happened but it was amazing🤯) Like many people, I was feeling very overwhelmed and anxious with the state of the world and was very overdue some realignment.
