This is no normal library. I think of it as my home away from home in London.
It has long been one of my favourite places to work. It’s also one of the only scholarly libraries that lends books (though it’s not just for scholars – their fiction collection is outstanding). In lockdown, they sent me vital books including a 1907 edition of letters from the early 16th-century.
And, unlike other libraries and archives in which I work, you can wander the stacks making serendipitous discoveries at will.
