In the Contemporary Keyboard interview, Suzanne’s asked about the first music she made with the Buchla, back in the late 60s/early 70s. Wild how it still applies to her recent work.
“Back then it was a kind of spatial poetry. Sound landscapes. I was involved in creating imaginary musical spaces both literally and figuratively. I was doing quad spatial-modulation things. It was a sensation to be able to sculpt the sound and move it in space… I did come from a totally academic background, but I’m Italian [laughs] and I don’t have much patience for that kind of heavy, intellectual, dry, justified music. To me it’s got to be sensual, moving, and emotional.”
