Toks Olagundoye Instagram – LEARN SOMETHING TODAY #Juneteenth
RP: @femalequotient “You can thank activist Opal Lee for making June 19th a national holiday. Her mission? To honor the enslaved and educate future generations about the day the news of emancipation reached Galveston, Texas, two and a half years after Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, June 19, 1865.

At the age of 89, this former educator led the movement to make #Juneteenth an official holiday – even if she had to walk from her home in Texas to Washington D.C. to do it. The “Grandmother of Juneteenth,” Lee is an incredible example of using your voice to activate real change.

Join us today in the #EqualityLounge @ #CannesLions2024 as we explore how brands are innovating authentically—internally and externally—around Juneteenth and beyond.
