Tracy McMillan Instagram – You guys! Remember how my actual job is being a television writer — when I’m not hosting a reality show about relationships or here on Instagram making videos about relationships? Well, I’m thrilled to share the news that I created a show starring the one-and-only @kerrywashington! And it’s kind of about, um, relationships. (Surprise!) It’s called “Unprisoned” and it’s based on my life (sort of) where a dad gets out of prison after 16 years and goes to live with his daughter who is a therapist and social media influencer (that part didn’t happen irl, because BOUNDARIES) and her teenaged son. It’s about forgiveness, and trust, and healing, and generational trauma. And it’s a comedy! Kerry is a revelation — not only one of the most awesome human beings I have ever had the pleasure of collaborating with — but also funny and compassionate and insightful and kind of my actual therapist, plz don’t tell her that. Delroy Lindo is irresistible and deep as a my-dad-like character. We shot a pilot last month, and we start shooting the series on Monday! More than 6.5 million people have an immediate family member in jail or prison as we speak — I’ve been one of them almost my entire life. “Unprisoned” is our story.
