Vinodhini Vaidynathan Instagram – Chippi Update: She’s still with her new family where she went pre-Diwali 2023. They’ve taught her to walk on a leash, she’s getting nail clips and baths regularly, she’s become a proper house dog with them. Unfortunately, the family lost their dad in a heart attack a month back but they’re bouncing back. Chippi loved her new “appa” (she technically never had one, living in the streets), she was devastated when he passed. But she’s also bounced back and is finally finding peace in a home environment. Chippi’s original street care takers Bhai amma and sister in our locality have not fared so well. Bhai amma has had a stroke and lost movement in her arm and leg. They are no longer able to run the roadside food stall ever since January, also because of the housing board construction and road blockage and losing the food stall itself to the corporation. I’m trying to raise funds for them privately and helping them get back on their feet. I had given bhai amma the job of preparing chicken rice for my own streeties last two months but now that she’s hospitalised, she can’t do anything at all. Me and my dad are trying to find out if we can get something for the three of them (Bhai amma, her sister and husband) something that will serve them till the end of their lives, like a retainership. Let’s see.
In the meantime, Chippi got her first photoshoot done by her foster family. She’s special to them and they have been her lifeline. Just look at her coat and eyes and her entire persona. A long way from May 2021 when she came to our gate, full of skin issues and looking for food. Some of her old pics are on my highlights under “Animal Work”.
