Darcy Donavan Instagram - It is with the deepest sorrow and a heavy heart that I share my love and admiration for Catherine O’Hara, the brilliant, hilarious, tender, and endlessly creative force of comedy and heart, who passed away at age 71 today.😢😢

From the very beginning of her incredible journey, from sketch comedy roots with SCTV to unforgettable roles that shaped so many of our lives, Catherine was truly one of a kind.👍 She brought laughter, nuance, and pure magic to everything she touched. With roles in beloved classics like Home Alone and Beetlejuice, and her heart-achingly brilliant portrayal of Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek, she didn’t just make characters, we loved them.

Catherine’s gift was her ability to make us laugh until our sides hurt, to feel deeply, and to connect with characters who felt like old friends. Her legacy isn’t just in awards or accolades, though she earned many, but in the joy she gave to millions around the world.

I am absolutely devastated by her passing, not just as someone who admired her work, but as someone who was so deeply excited and hopeful about the future. Caption : 💛TRUE FRIENDSHIP IS RARE, SACRED AND PRICELESS!💛 As time moves on, I realize more and more that true friends aren’t the ones who are loud, they’re the ones who stay. The ones who understand you, even in your silence. The ones who don’t take distance personally, because they know if I go quiet, it usually means I’m carrying a lot and trying not to burden anyone else. Right now, my heart is heavy.💔 A very close friend of mine, (who is like a brother), Ian, is in the hospital going through an incredibly difficult time. He suffered a collapsed lung, and today he’s receiving a blood transfusion. Doctors had to go into his esophagus and create a trachea, so he can breathe and receive nutrition. It’s a lot.😢 If you believe in prayer, good energy, or healing intentions, I would be so grateful if you could send some prayers his way today. 🙏💙 Life doesn’t slow down when things get hard. Between running five businesses, being there for my family through health challenges, and quietly navigating personal things I don’t always talk about, there are moments when I feel stretched thin. And that’s why I appreciate true friends and (my sweet fur-babies)so deeply ,the ones who understand. The ones who don’t disappear. The ones who check in, keep texting, keep calling, and simply say, “I’m here.” I am incredibly blessed to have five people in my life who have truly shown up for me, consistently, lovingly, and without conditions. We lost our sweet Ian. Colon cancer turned into complication after complication… and yesterday sepsis took his kidneys and lungs. It all happened so fast. He seemed so healthy, so strong. None of us were ready for this.😢💔

Ian wasn’t just a friend. He was a brother from another mother to me. 🤍 He was light. He was laughter. He was that rare soul who showed up, every single time.

When I was really, really sick, he sent me flowers just to make me smile. 🌸 He surprised me with my favorite food when my dog passed away. 🍩 One year he literally went all the way to Universal Studios to make sure I had that special donut that was my favorite on my birthday. That was Ian. Thoughtful. Joyful. Always in a good mood. Always giving. Always loving.❤️

He was an incredible friend to me… and to my sister, who is completely devastated right now. We all are. The world feels dimmer without him in it.😢

Please, cherish every moment with the people you love. Hug them tighter. Call them back. Forgive quicker. Life can change in a heartbeat, and sometimes you don’t get another chance.❤️

Life has a way of reminding us who truly stands by us when we need it most. Over the past few months, I've faced some of the hardest times I've ever experienced — my dear Mom had a terrible accident and broke her arm in four places and is needing a steel rod to be put in her arm so she can at least have mobility in it. She's in excruciating pain and she's going into surgery on Monday. I ask for your prayers and positive thoughts for her recovery.🙏❤️🩵🙏

On top of that, I've been navigating my own health challenges, managing multiple businesses, caring for my six wonderful dogs, and trying to stay on top of everything— all while traveling and doing my best to bring happiness to those around me. It hasn't been easy, but I am reminded every day of the incredible people in my life who have shown up, who listen, who pray, and who simply *are* there for me!❤️💯🙏❤️

To my true friends — I see you ( you know who you are)! I REALLY appreciate you more than words can say. 💚💜💯You’ve been my cheerleaders through the storms, my safe space when the world feels heavy, and my reminder that I am never alone.
