Fran Drescher Instagram - Its labor day weekend and I find myself in the volunteer position of leading a major labor battle as we at Sag-Aftra meet this historic moment head on. It is said in buddhist wisdom that to lead, one must follow. In order to do that I must pay close attention to everyone’s grievances that come at me from all sides. But last week was a convergence of family aggravation, personal heath issues, board member abuse, staff bureaucracy and a release of tears to Duncan from feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders. This all writes a recipe for disaster and that cake got baked when I yelled at an unsuspecting member simply sharing her grievances. I had a meltdown and a complete and offensive, over reaction. I, of course apologized but continue to beat myself up over it. Why is it so difficult to let it go and move on when we mess up? And I realized that whether leading a labor movement or being caregiver to a sick and dependent loved one, you are human and you will falter. Do not demand perfection from yourself because you are setting yourself up for failure if you do. You may lose it (like I did)and you may offend those undeserving of your wrath when you’ve reached the end of your rope. But first, always own your bads and next try to cut yourself slack. Be understanding of your situation even when others may not be. A Shaman once said to me, “each time you find yourself ruminating over why you said this or why you did that, try repeating these words to yourself as often as necessary to take the curse off your self loathing: I love you Fran. I know how good you are. It’s Fran & Fran ‘til the end of time. “

I made a Morty Menu: salad, lasagna, coffee ice cream and chocolate peanut butter cups. The US Golf Open was on the tv and Sinatra crooned on the stereo. Fran Drescher Instagram - I was invited to the Norman Lear Memorial. I called him ‘Normy’. The very first day I worked for him I was late for the day 1 table read of a pilot called Pop. Normy said, “anyone that can look that good at this hour deserves to be late!” That was the Norman Lear I knew. Recently, we sat in a green room which was more of a converted closet and talked about everything. I asked him if 90 years old seemed young to him as he was about to turn 100 and he said, “yeah, it does.” He was a great man who did great things and was well loved and respected. But as each memory was shared yesterday, the tears flowed for my dad too bc everything they said was true for my dad too. Theirs was a great generation and they were as good as it gets! Afterwards, I met some friends for my 24 yr anniversary of wellness at the fabulous Bar Funke in BH. The moon was full, orange and magnificent. Life! Make each moment count, be present and make those you love know it everyday!

“My beloved father Morty, passed away gently in his sleep in the early hours of Mar 20th surrounded by my mother and I.
Alhough he was 94.5 , it still feels untenable how permanent the loss of this great man is.

He leaves behind his bride Sylvia, of 71 wonderful years of marriage and two adoring daughters, my sister Nadine and I.

His values were always in the right place. He honored and respected everyone equally.
He understood the important things in this life, love of family, simple pleasures and living in gratitude.

He passed these values onto his children and lived an exemplary life.

Always, the life of the party, he was funny and smart. Known within our circles of family and friends to always recite Casey At The Bat, one of his favorite poem.

He was also a wonderful actor who made several appearances on The Nanny and The Rosie O’Donnel Show.

He loved sports of all kinds and I was happy to take him to a Super Bowl, a US Tennis Open and the Kentucky Derby. Golf and swimming was his favorite things to do in retirement.

He was a good friend to many people both at work and within his community.
He was an amazing father who taught my sister and I to swim, ride a bicycle and drive a car.
He was the best husband to my mom and remained madly in love with her until his last breath.

He was so very proud of both his daughters accomplishments. My sister who raised two daughters of her own while achieving her doctrine in nursing.

And a systems analyst, I inherited his analytical mind which I referenced throughout my leadership as sag-aftra president, especially during the strike.

I am so happy he got to see me not only achieve success as an actor but even more important as a labor leader because doing volunteer work on behalf of the greater good was the ethics by which he raised me.

If there is a heaven, he’s there now because he lived purely, honestly and lovingly. “

My place is by her side with Angel who gives us both a kind of sensitive love that we both need. Life is a series of now moments.
