Hilarie Burton Instagram - Crazy to believe that this is the 20th year @sophiabush and I are celebrating our joint birthday week. Twenty years?!?! We met right before our birthdays in 2003, turned 21 together, and proceeded to run through those bars of @cityofwilm like our lives depended on it. (We see you @bluepostbilliards , #level5 and #thesoapbox)🥃 Not sure what was in the ether in July of 1982, but I met my match in this one. She is brave when I am tired. Focused when I’m scattered. Hilarie Burton Instagram - Once upon a time, in the year of our Goddess -1982 - two little girls were born in the same week, but on opposite sides of the world. These little nerds loved school and books and camp and extracurricular activities to pad their college resumes….and they were the same kind of animal. Ambitious. Persistent. LOUD. Dramatic. But they were also a marriage of opposites. Dark and blonde. Petite and tall. California and Virginia. All girls school and public school. If there was ever a case of Nature vs Nurture, this was it. The older one looked mean and angular and tough. But was a wuss on the inside. Easily hurt. The younger one looked adorable on the outside. But was a fucking pit bull! Especially if you tangled with one of her chosen family. And so it came to pass that the Universe, in all her infinite wisdom, threw these two together and created a perfect storm of sisterhood and feminine rage and salacious gossip and soft, loving trust. It was perfect. You, @sophiabush , are perfect. I always feel guilty that my birthday comes first, and you always take the time to make me feel so loved. Hilarie Burton Instagram - About last night…… There was a party. And lots of people I love from all the different chapters of my life popped in. And I can’t wait to post all those pictures……later. Cause today, the only thing that matters is this guy. @jeffreydeanmorgan . 4 years ago today, we got married. He carried our daughter down the aisle and had our son as his best man. The second I saw them all standing there at the ceremony, I started SPRINTING down the aisle. Seriously, a bride has never hustled that fast. I just wanted to get there, and be with them. And even though we pretty much agreed on our first date that forever was starting, it felt nice to stand up with our friends and family, after a decade of being together, and take vows. I love you Jeffrey. It’s hard for me when I work. I feel guilty and like I’m failing if I’m not 100% focused on home. But you have been so wonderful about being there for the kids and being a safe space for me. You’ve pushed me to take risks and be my whole self. I want to always race back to you guys. Hilarie Burton Instagram - I was given great advice awhile back by my dear friend @tara_shafer to take solo trips with each of my kids whenever I could. That one-on-one attention is so important. So last night, Gus and I trekked to Manteo to catch @thelostcolony show. Fun fact: while everyone else was getting drunk at senior year beach week, I made my friends come to this show with me. The Lost Colony is a HUGE deal if you’re a theater kid from the NC/VA area. It’s the original outdoor drama and is currently in its 86th year….That’s insane! (point of reference, Phantom of the Opera ran for a measly 35 years) So many members of the Outer Banks community have nurtured this show over the years and it’s alumni are a who’s who of familiar tv faces and local heroes. My dude loves theater and so it was fun to go on the backstage tour (thank you to our guides!) where he was allowed to put on Andy Griffith’s armor from his time in the production. Pretty soon this teenager will be too cool for his ol mom, so I’ll take these dates any time I can get em. Xo

My dude loves theater and so it was fun to go on the backstage tour (thank you to our guides!) where he was allowed to put on Andy Griffith’s armor from his time in the production. Pretty soon this teenager will be too cool for his ol mom, so I’ll take these dates any time I can get em. Xo

Hilarie Burton Instagram - The sweetest man. I played @valkilmerofficial ‘s girlfriend in a movie back in 2009. The script called for us to have a fairly rowdy love scene that got interrupted by a phone call. I’d just come off of OTH where I was always put in some kind of compromising position….so it was just work as usual. But then I got to set the day we were going to be shooting that scene and there was a scramble happening. “Val wants to change the scene.” Huh? “It’s not interesting,” he said. A gratuitous sex scene with a younger woman didn’t service the story or the character. It said nothing about the relationship and why either of our characters were in it. Instead, Val sent someone out to a local restaurant to pick up a huge tub of ribs. And so, as the camera panned up from the floor, our moans were those of two people, comfortable and indulgent, tangled up in bed and unfettered by the mess, elbows deep in North Carolina’s finest bbq. It was infinitely more interesting and I felt so safe and cared for by that man. It would have been easy to phone it in and just go with the stereotypical way women have been seen in film. Rather than the scene playing on my naked back, he turned me toward the camera. He made the scene about us instead of using me as a prop. That one day at work rewired my brain. Val was kind to me. A thoughtful artist. I bought some of his paintings a few years back. I hope every young actor has a Val in their life. That movie was a magical experience. #bloodworth

Hilarie Burton Instagram - Pretty cool that out of my 1.9 million followers, only around 5k are Nazi sympathizers. Really glad to see them go, as providing a safe space for all of my diverse, queer, emotionally intelligent, spiritual friends and community members is important to me. Fuck em. Years ago, @jeffreydeanmorgan and I wandered into @chasecontemporary gallery here in NYC. We’ve always been art gallery dwellers. That was one of our first dates in Santa Fe…hopping from gallery to gallery across the square. We have hit up galleries in London and Barcelona and Rhinebeck and little tiny small towns across America. Like moths to a flame. Chase Contemporary Gallery always had pieces in the window that stopped us in our tracks. What I love about this gallery is how inclusive they have been to our children. Every time we go in there, the owners make a point of introducing our kids to the artists and asking them real questions about their interests and what they like about the exhibits. I’m so grateful that they are nurturing an appreciation for art in my kids. Last year for our anniversary Jeffrey surprise me with this @connorbrothersofficial piece that I’m obsessed with. This year, to celebrate my book, he came home with these two fabulous book covers from the same artists. As luck should have it, the gallery was hosting a party for its current artist in residence… @lilblackgoat . Logan Sylve is such a talent, and we loved discussing his background of growing up in Louisiana and learning about his current adventures in Paris. I love his use of color and some of the mischievous toothy grins in his paintings. George became obsessed with this giraffe painting! Places like this nurture young artists and so we love visiting every chance we get. I hope that you guys give them a follow and then find galleries in your own town to support. Hilarie Burton Instagram - We. Are. Negan. Tonight is the @tribeca premiere of @amcthewalkingdeadcity , and i just wanted to take a second to honor my husband, @jeffreydeanmorgan . I remember him pouring over the graphic novels and scripts when this opportunity first came along. Gus was so little. We all lay in bed while Daddy studied and prepped. And when that first episode of Negan aired……lord. We had no idea the change it would create in our lives. If you hated him? It’s because Jeffrey is amazing. If you loved him? It’s because Jeffrey is amazing. But what you didn’t see is a man who spent years flying home every single second he could so that in the midst of all of this work he didn’t miss soccer games or recitals or parties. You didn’t see the guy who forgoes sleep so that he can show up for his crew and show up for his family. Dead City is gonna be awesome. Because Jeffrey has more fun on camera than anyone else I know. And when he’s a bad guy??? I am INTO IT!!! Congrats to the radiant @laurencohan and the rest of the Dead City gang. Can’t wait to celebrate all of you.

I’d just come off of OTH where I was always put in some kind of compromising position….so it was just work as usual. But then I got to set the day we were going to be shooting that scene and there was a scramble happening. “Val wants to change the scene.” Huh? “It’s not interesting,” he said. A gratuitous sex scene with a younger woman didn’t service the story or the character. It said nothing about the relationship and why either of our characters were in it. Instead, Val sent someone out to a local restaurant to pick up a huge tub of ribs. And so, as the camera panned up from the floor, our moans were those of two people, comfortable and indulgent, tangled up in bed and unfettered by the mess, elbows deep in North Carolina’s finest bbq. It was infinitely more interesting and I felt so safe and cared for by that man. It would have been easy to phone it in and just go with the stereotypical way women have been seen in film. Rather than the scene playing on my naked back, he turned me toward the camera. He made the scene about us instead of using me as a prop. That one day at work rewired my brain. Val was kind to me. A thoughtful artist. I bought some of his paintings a few years back. I hope every young actor has a Val in their life. That movie was a magical experience. #bloodworth

Every time we go in there, the owners make a point of introducing our kids to the artists and asking them real questions about their interests and what they like about the exhibits. I’m so grateful that they are nurturing an appreciation for art in my kids. Last year for our anniversary Jeffrey surprise me with this @connorbrothersofficial piece that I’m obsessed with. This year, to celebrate my book, he came home with these two fabulous book covers from the same artists. As luck should have it, the gallery was hosting a party for its current artist in residence… @lilblackgoat . Logan Sylve is such a talent, and we loved discussing his background of growing up in Louisiana and learning about his current adventures in Paris. I love his use of color and some of the mischievous toothy grins in his paintings. George became obsessed with this giraffe painting!
