That opening clip was the first time I ever wore the leader’s jersey, and I was still so unaware of the path that I was about to take. Somehow that moment turned into the most incredible 13 years & a career I am so proud of .. and what a journey it has been!

My people are my world—and it’s my family, my coaches, my best friends (that have turned into family), my teammates, and all of you who have supported me so tremendously, that have made this chapter of life the one that has filled me up the most ✨❤️

It was hard for me to find the right way to share my retirement & the words that could capture the entirety of how much this has all meant to me, but I knew I could ask @hebercannon & @marstonsawyers to assist me put my feelings into a visual & what an incredible ride down memory lane that was! This video says it all.

Katrin Tanja Davidsdottir Instagram - OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY & our week of ✨BLISS✨ sharing it with out closest people 💖☁️💫🥰 I don’t even know where to start but @brookslaich actually proposed in Iceland & he COMPLETELY surprised me!

We had decided to do christmas & new years at home in Coeur D’Alene this year so I decided to squeeeeeze in a trip back home to Iceland to see my family, best friends, the christmas lights, have hot chocolate & whipped cream ❤️🎄🥹✨ ya know just all my christmas favorites!!!

I ALSO decided to make a quick trip to London for the weekend to see my family there (little did I know I was planning my own engagement right there when I decided to book that trip🤣)

I was suppose to land in Iceland at midnight on that sunday but after some delays I wasn’t leaving the airport until 1am & I was so tired. I called Brooks literally just to chat to stay awake because the drive is an hour (the whole time we were chatting I am thinking he is in states!!!!!) and as I get into parking garage I tell him I love him & say good night.

But when I opened our apartment door there he was, standing in the middle of our living room, surrounded by roses & candles & flower pedals & I just FROZE 😭✨ I was so shocked & so happy & literally my dream is coming true all at same time so I actually just froze and said nothing and didn’t even move for probably a good 30 seconds 🤣

But it was the most beautiful moment at 2am ❤️ After he proposed we just wanted to sit in the moment for longer, so I made us hot chocolate & whipped cream & we sat down on the couch together. I asked him to tell me EVERYTHING from the planning to the ring & we chatted until about 5am that morning!!

It was the most thoughtful proposal & perfectly us ❤️🌹 He did it in Iceland to honor that that too is our home (🥹), to also make memories there & so that we could share the news in person with our family & best friends there. And that week at home after was just that: THE MOST SPECIAL 💫☁️💖

I have just been up there swirling on a pink cloud and not sure I will ever come back down to earth actually 💍🤭 the happiest I have ever been & so excited to start this next chapter of life with my future HUSBAND!!!!! @brookslaich

Katrin Tanja Davidsdottir - 76.3K Likes - The surgery went so so well 🤍🫶🏼

I went in very early on Thursday morning for a “Standalone ALIF” on L5/S1, which means the surgeons opened me up from the front, below my bellow button. That way they could get the best access to the disk, and could also leave my back muscles untouched!

I was out of surgery and awake again by 11am - and that same afternoon I was already walking the hallways & able to do steps! 👏🏼😭 But because of the anterior approach, the surgeons wanted to keep me overnight at the hospital, and I got to come home on Friday!

My worst day ended up being yesterday (saturday) & early today, but that was probably to be expected & just a part of this process ❤️ I think & I HOPE that I am over the hardest part now & it feels so good to know that one day at a time I am one step closer to a healthy strong back!

Thank you to everybody who messaged or commented their well wishes, I felt it & I know it made a difference 💫🤍✨

Katrin Tanja Davidsdottir - 69.7K Likes - It’s with a heavy heart that I share that I will not be able to compete in this 2024 CrossFit Games season. I’ve been dealing with back injuries pretty much my whole career, but this year will be the first one that I am not able to fight my way through ❤️‍🩹

It breaks my heart that this is the end of my season. Those who know me, know there are few things that light me up as much as being out on the competition floor & being in the pursuit of my full potential ✨ I have an incredible team around me that I have been leaning on through this & I find tremendous peace in the fact that we tried everything we could to keep my season alive, but it just wasn’t in the cards for me this year. So as heavy as this feels right now, I do feel an immense amount of relief in knowing I can finally take time to work on getting healthy & healing my back.

It takes a village, and I feel so lucky to have a great one behind me, you all mean more to me than I can possibly communicate 🫶🏼

I want to wish my fellow competitors a healthy and hard fought season. I will miss being out there in the arena with you!!! ❤️‍🔥

The news of Lazar Dukic’s passing while competing at the CrossFit Games is beyond devastating, and I have been struggling for these past 4 days to find the any way to express my grief and frustration. No words seem to do it any justice at all.

I am so sorry for what happened. It’s incomprehensible that we lost Lazar, and I can’t believe we’re facing this reality. For years, athletes have raised concerns about safety—whether it’s about heatstroke, overprogramming, or other risks—but our voices haven’t been heard. Now, we’re grappling with the unimaginable consequence of those ignored warnings. All I keep wishing is that we can go back, create a different ending .. but nothing will ever bring him back. All we can hope for now is responsibility, accountability & ultimately that action will be taken within the organization that failed him.

While I didn’t know Lazar personally, his legacy as a shining light and source of inspiration has always been so apparent. He brought so much positive energy and uplifted everyone around him! His light & legacy will live on within the community forever ✨🕊️

My heart & prayers go out to his brother Luka, his girlfriend Anja, his family, and all those who loved him 💔
