It is with great sadness, but also gratitude that we had him with us for so long, that I share the news that my father, Ed Schiff, has passed away at age 96. Boca Eddie, as he was affectionately known, was an Army veteran, and a wonderful father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather. He delighted in his family, and lived life to the fullest, and now goes to join our mother of blessed memory, Sherrill Ann. May his memory be a blessing.
Today’s Supreme Court decision on Donald Trump’s immunity claim is far worse than anything I imagined… My statement:

Having been a federal prosecutor, I know you don’t disparage a witness while declining to prosecute them. Not if you’re a professional, instead of a partisan. And yet — that’s exactly what Robert Hur did. He made a choice. And it was a terrible one.
Jim Jordan — having made no effort to seek an accommodation with the White House and in contempt of his own subpoena – is dragging the Judiciary Committee through more contempt proceedings, this time for the President’s ghostwriter. It has not a ghost of a chance of passing legal muster.
Robert Hur knew his report would be made public. He knew his words would ignite a political firestorm. He knew that gratuitously attacking the President would violate DOJ policy. Yet he did it anyway. For maximal political effect.
First, they passed abortion bans. Now, courts are rolling back access to IVF. These are the lengths Republicans will go to control women’s bodies. Make no mistake — reproductive freedom is on the ballot this November.
So grateful for @potus’s leadership — getting real results for working families and protecting our democracy. Now let’s finish the job.
Today we mark the 109th anniversary of the Armenian genocide. Despite the horrors the Armenian people have faced – and continue to face – it has not broken their will to persevere. The Armenian community has overcome the harshest of trials, and yet remains strong and unbowed.
Trump’s goal is to deny justice by delaying justice. Sadly, the Justices seem ok with that result. There was no reason for them to hear this case. A president is not immune from prosecution when he violates the law to stay in power. Not in a democracy.
Trump is finally sitting in a defendant’s chair. Where he belongs. It’s been a long time coming. But the Supreme Court has been delaying the far more significant reckoning over Jan 6. Past time for justice to be served there too.
Two years ago, Russia launched an unprovoked and brutal invasion of Ukraine. We stood by them then — sending the resources they needed to combat Putin’s aggression. We cannot abandon our ally now. Congress must act.

Commemorating the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide this week. To our neighbors — in the United States, in Armenia, and across the world — Ես միշտ պիտի կանգնիմ հայ համայնքի կողքին. I will always stand with the Armenian community.
Grateful for the chance to speak with @sandiegochamber about the most pressing issues facing San Diego communities. From building more affordable housing, to combatting cross-border pollution and investing in the LOSSAN Rail Corridor – I’m committed to being a strong federal partner.
