This cover is a photo of my grisaille (greyscale) underpainting. This is the stage of my art which takes the longest and provides all of the structure, volume and tone. It’s also my favourite stage, hence why I do it even though it might seem counterproductive. I probably don’t need to do it to this level before going to colour, but Rome wasn’t built in a day.
