Alexander Gerst Instagram – Polar “noctilucent” clouds, which are around 80 km high, and therefore often lit by the sun even after sunset. This is a rare view captured during my latest mission on board the @iss, we usually can’t see them from the day side. #Horizons #archive / Polare Mesosphärenwolken, auch “Nachtleuchtende Wolken” genannt, da man sie nach Sonnenuntergang oft noch von der Sonne angestrahlt sehen kann. Um die 80 km hoch(!). Selten, dass man sie, wie auf diesem Foto, von sieht. Aufgenommen während meiner Horizons Mission.
