We celebrated our hometown superstar Samyra and we had an amazing special guest Bakari Sellers and his wife Ellen Rucker Sellers. This is a big year. 30th anniversary of Essence Fest. The partnership between the city and Essence has meant a multi billion dollar economic impact to the city over the decades. This year alone, the projection for the weekend is between $200-$300M. I am excited for this year and years to come and the continued strengthening of the partnership between New Orleans and Essence!
