@georgehtakei played my dad in one of the first TV jobs I ever booked, many years ago, and we’ve had a bond ever since. #icymi last night we had a really nice conversation onstage at @symphonyspace in NYC about his life, his legacy, and his new book for Young People, #MyLostFreedom, a lovely, youth-angled, autobiographical book with charming illustrations by #michellelee centered around his family’s internment in an Arkansas Incarceration camp. I love these pics of George reading to a packed and loving house from his moving and eye opening story; a story that isn’t known or taught enough at all. Bravo, Papa!

Technically I’m not literally the #ChildOfImmigrants but it doesn’t matter. Being the #childrenofImmigrants is kind of a state of mind. There is a mentality that is cradled in your existence when those who came before you uprooted their lives to try to give the future generations of their family a better life. And so you can also hold a greater appreciation for those whom you see around you who have struggled or are struggling with that upheaval in their lives today; now. If you choose to see it, or remember to see it. I got to meet a bona-fide icon today. @official_lady_bunny and i crossed paths. I was sitting for an on camera interview when she blustered in and I would have it no other way. “She’s here…” someone said, “…hold please.” I said, “who is it?” “Lady Bunny.” And I don’t know why, I just got all teary. Of all the people who mean so much to our #lgbtq🌈 history, and our pride. I just love her. We met a few minutes later and here we are being creative with our lips for @instagram. She is #queeroyalty goddamn authentic New York City #queeroyalty

Well everyone, this is the last stop on the World Premiere of #WhatBecameOfUs train. @atlantictheater launched this jewel of a play with a bold dual cast concept and it was incredibly intense and in so many ways wonderful. Particular kudos to everyone at Atlantic, everyone on the crew, and everyone on this creative team of inspired artists led by director @iamtherealchanginator and playwright #ShayanLotfi who worked together, as one does, to gently meet this production’s unique challenges as a mighty, open hearted village which worked together to put this delicate production on stage while always putting humanity first. People can be so amazing. Merde to the wonderful @saghdashloo and #TonyShalhoub for taking us all home tonight.
